At AAU Elections, representatives to the democratic bodies at the university are elected. Elections are held every year for students and PhD students, while elections for academic staff (VIP) and technical-administrative staff (TAP) are only held every 4 years. Elections give students and staff the opportunity to influence the decisions that are made every day at the university. Elections are held for the

These bodies advise and make decisions in different areas and at different levels, but what they all have in common is that they consist of representatives from both students and staff.

IMPORTANT DATES FOR AAU ELECTIONS 2025

30 September 2025: The election is called

6 October 2025: The election system opens for submission of candidate lists

24 October 2025: Deadline for submission of candidate lists

24 November 2025: Voting opens

27 November 2025: Voting closes

1 December 2025: Publication of the voting results

AAU Elections is a collective term for many small elections - also called sub-elections - to the University Board, Academic Council, PhD Committee, Department Council and Study Board.

In 2025 there will be elections for all students and PhD students, i.e. the Board of Directors, Academic Council, PhD committees, Department Council and Study Board.

Elections at Aalborg University are officially announced when an election circular and a time schedule for the year's elections are published on the election website. All eligible voters and other relevant parties are also informed about the election by email.
